Terms of use

The practical rules that apply when you use Mermaid Live Editor, its exports, share links, and external integrations.

Acceptance

By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. These terms do not limit rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Purpose of the service

Mermaid Live Editor provides browser-based tools to write, render, export, and share Mermaid diagrams. This service is a substantially refactored deployment based on an upstream open-source project. It is offered without a paid account and may change independently from that upstream project.

Your content and share links

You retain responsibility for the Mermaid source and other content you enter. Do not use content you lack permission to process, export, or share. A share URL contains an encoded copy of the diagram state; anyone with the complete URL may be able to read and redistribute it.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use the site to violate law or another person's rights.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt the site, overload it, or bypass technical restrictions.
  • Do not use remote imports to access systems or data without authorization.
  • Do not misrepresent the origin, authorship, or confidentiality of an exported diagram.

Open-source software and third parties

The editor is based on the mermaid-js/mermaid-live-editor open-source project. The original work and its contributors remain credited under the upstream MIT license. The upstream contributors are not the operators, publishers, or support contacts for mermaid-live-editor.com and are not parties to these site-specific terms. Included libraries, external sites, imports, and integrations remain subject to their own licenses and terms.

Availability and warranties

The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The maintainers do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free rendering, permanent compatibility, or fitness of an exported diagram for a particular technical, legal, safety, or business purpose. Verify important diagrams before relying on them.

Limitation of responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the maintainers are not responsible for indirect loss arising from use of the site, loss of locally stored data, disclosure through a share link, or conduct of a third-party service. Nothing here excludes responsibility that cannot be excluded by law.

Changes and contact

Updated terms are published here with a revised date. Questions or proposed corrections can be handled according to the site-specific contact page, not through the upstream project unless they concern a reproducible upstream defect.
